Martin Di Girolamo was born in September 9th 1965 in Buenos Aires. He studied Art at the National School of Fine Arts Prilidiano Pueyrredon in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

This avant-garde Argentine artist of Buenos Aires began to work his first steps into the world of Arts showcasing his sculptures at BA discos and clubs. This was because his edgy feel of erotic images of goddess-like women. It was this break-thru artistically conceived erotic imaging what also took this young and talented artist to Buenos Aires cultural centers, galleries and shows.
Back in the 90s Buenos Aires experts Pablo Suarez and Marcelo Pombo introduced this artist in their catalog describing him as a sincere artist, when using his artistic and developing academy like skills with which he portrays standard goddess with a strange and unique technique blending the trashy and personal, the advertising and the billboard like imagery at the same time. The kitsch feel in art, gains a new meaning with him bursting into the local and regional art world.
On and on, his production was accepted and included in more institutional like art places and palaces. However his works never left their birthplace, his sculptures still embellish and provoke at trendy BA restaurants, pubs and clubs.
Di Girolamo “Girls” stare at us as cloned Lolitas. Brunette and terse white skinned sculptured gorgeous seductive and provocative gals wink at the observer, generating a true moment between the artist, the work of art and the spectator hardly achieved in Art.
Far away from Prodaltec, his school of Art, and fast food art procedures, this artist is a true craftsman, an artist with capital letters, who devotes to his work as an obsessive artisan… Ranging between the perfection of the 19th century art and the glamorous 21st century image of contemporary icons of beauty, Di Girolamo builds upon a new mythology of sexiness and erotic.
While the procedure, technique and art conception is not privative of our artist, for the neo pop revival of American nudities featured by Wesselman and Allen Jones precedes this Argentine version. All in all, there’s a special feature of Di Girolamo art, he never works with live models, while he doesn’t invent either; he, on the other hand, carefully constructs a sculpture like model from a copy created from the selection of photographic images.
He works in a very detailed form of selection. We could describe his creative process as a thoughtful pre-production work of erotic and sensual detailed work in creating every man’s fantasy muse…
Proceeding as a collage maker, the artist begins his work choosing a perfect body, the perfect posture that suits that body image and concept of sensuality, as he savors the image until he captures the essence. Observing the details brought up by the photos he studies, he works emphasizing the transgression process implied in the reverting the bi dimensionality of the printed image brining it up into the tri dimensional world.
