Soy Remo Duca.

Argentina and The American Community in Buenos Aires

Argentina and The American Community in Buenos Aires
Topic: American Community
Being sensual, being a global tango dancer while in Buenos Aires.

The great flow of travelers coming to the shores of the Silver River, Rio de la Plata, in search of a life experience of dance and sensuality grows by the minute. Buenos Aires is the place where the sensual dance was born late in the 19th century, and to where tango lovers from around the planet turn to for a true encounter with the dance, its traditions, its unique features and to discover its modern place in the Argentine and global culture.

Tango is a dual word, for it makes reference both to the dance and the music. And while this last meaning was the one that prevailed throughout the second half of the twentieth century and the first one got left behind in the darkness of late milongas –tango dance places- and complicated cultural features; it’s in these third millennium days when and where the original dance has retuned to the centerline of society and world around attention.

The ritualized ceremony of tango, the costume dress and suit, the special shoes and the rich brilliantly executed music has been exported around the globe by passionate Argentines. Now you can tango in Paris, Hong Kong, Tokyo, San Francisco… but there’s no place like the birth place, the true originality of Buenos Aires and its people.

Tango dancers from all over the globe flow to Buenos Aires for the true thing. The intrinsic magic within the atmosphere is truly appealing to those coming to BA. That individual who back home lives a pretty normal life, works every day from 9 to 5, and enjoys weekends with family and friends chilling at home or outing… when in Buenos Aires, all dressed up in tango outfit, heading towards a milonga ballroom and inviting a gorgeous local dancer to join him or her at the dance floor takes them to a world of fantasy and sensuality where anything and everything can happen.

There are countless life stories of tango fans relocating permanently or semi permanently to Buenos Aires for an everlasting tango oriented life with all those things you’ve dreamed of and much more.

This South American capital city is not only culturally and socially appealing to people around the globe, but it’s also really affordable in a great living sense. The local currency is 3 to one Dollar or 3.5 to one Euro, so your life expenses when in Buenos Aires or anywhere else in Argentina drop to an extent that for the same money you spend back home in an average existence, down in BA you get to live the life you’ve ever dreamt of.

As the Knight Ridder journalist Anne Chalfant described in her recent piece on Affordable Argentina: “Some people, such as longtime Oakland, Calif., resident Deby Novitz, can't settle for a few weeks a year. In December 2004, the 52-year-old technology consultant sold her house in California and moved to Buenos Aires to dance full time. She picked up an affordable three-bedroom apartment in the city's ritzy Palermo neighborhood and has turned it into a guesthouse for visiting dancers. It's often booked two months in advance.” Deby though American is now a true Argentine tango citizen, living the life she always dreamt of…

The testimonials of those life changing decisions are endless, for in some way Buenos Aires and Argentina have become an earthy paradise to which people seeking to enjoy life to its most relocate and make their dreams come true!

mysteries that are still being discovered

A world that still has mysteries ready to be discovered........

Latin America is celebrating. Most major newspapers make reference to the newest discovery in the Peruvian Amazon basin: the third highest most waterfalls in the world. Just when the world seemed so discovered and we were heading off to the stars and other planets, we realize that our own planet has wonderful hidden treasures, natural and those created by mankind.

Not so long ago –in terms of history- in that very same country and in a similar rainforest geography, at the beginning of the 20th century, an American explorer by the name of Hiram Bingham discovered the lost Inca Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Not even discovered by the Spanish conquerors, the amazing Inca construction was covered by the jungle like vegetation. Today, nearly a century after that discovery, explorers from Peru and Germany lead by Stefan Ziemendorff discover this natural sanctuary that is the Gocta waterfall. The surrounding area within the Chachapoyas province in North east Peru beholds also a recent amazing discovery, that of a non Inca citadel fortress of several hundred years that was at the frontiers of the Andes Empire in the Utcubamba valley.

According to the information provided by the research group, this waterfall ranks third in the world, after El Salto del Angel –The Angels Jump- in Venezuela featuring 972 meters; and Tugela Falls of 948 meters in South Africa.

The 771 meter high waterfall was a natural sanctuary for the local indigenous populations of the area. Descendants to the Chachapoyas Indians, one of the few ethnic groups that were able to repel the Inca conquest, the locals who knew and venerated this Mother Nature’s monument, had never said a word about it because they feared some kind of curse from the water mermaid like goddess they worship.
The importance in terms of culture and paradise unspoiled location of this discovery has to be always remembered and bared in mind for any sort of tourist like visits or tours, being respectful of Nature as well as the locals, for whom –according to their system of believes- this is a sacred sanctuary.

Design furniture for the collectors who want more
Collector to collector insider’s talk

Passionate collectors know that as important as the item itself, the display cabinet in which we place those superb items we covet and love so much is a key element in our picture.

Every single person agrees on the fact that valuable items such as jewelry are to be seen and not touched, appreciated in all its greatness in a matching display that allows us to view the piece in its glory and versatility.

Collectibles are precious jewelry items in the broad sense of the word. Precious objects of outstanding features that we choose to collect and fall deeply in love with, need equally outstanding display to fully present their brilliantness.

Our own experience collecting and showcasing has led us to work on the idea of designing unique furniture for our collectibles.

The key aspect of our designs is that they are custom made and design to enhance the finest qualities of our objects, showing them in all their beauty and complexity. Therefore, the concept of the display is tied to the concept within the collectible. Taking advantage of nature’s most noble materials, being at ease with our planet and therefore working only with ecological friendly materials, we once again put to work our integral cultural and social project to purposely serve customized needs and requirements.
All in all, this display cabinet furniture is a design item per se.
Considering the fact that our collections are brilliant compositions of time, eras, culture and design trends the display has, necessarily, had to match those intrinsically unique features.

Display furniture is designed upon request. We work with avant-garde craftsmen who knowing their raw material provide an extra insight to our design and point of view. As always, we work to fit personal needs, requirements and ideas.

Our furniture is totally assembled, and easy to carry and put together; perfect to ship anywhere in the world, and to transport in traveling shows or events.

The perfect display for the perfect item is our lemma. At this moment we are in the process of designing and building our modules exhibits for our own on coming July Show at the BAC, here in B’s A’s. As we go incorporating them into our show rooms we will be placing them also on lone……….When you purchase an item at the Buenos Aires Toy Museum all profits are invested in the development of the Museum. When buying a toy from our Toy Museum you're not only buying a bit of the History of Argentina, but also contributing to the conservation of vintage and antiques toys, and to furthering the museum's research project on Argentine toy industries and to rescue valuable items for forget and the pass of time.
