Buenos Aires, in love with Art & Life

Buenos Aires, in love with Art & Life
Topic: Argentina
The top notch cultural outings for a near free price … the unknown Buenos Aires.

If the dropping dollar has most European capitals playing hard to get, Buenos Aires is the furthermost extreme opposite to this situation. The Argentine capital has turned to be a gorgeous, sophisticated and inexpensive world center. The strong dollar in the Argentine economy offers visitors from around the globe a fabulous opportunity of enjoying short or long term vacations like kings and queens.

And though bargains in BA are not hard to find, especially if you divide any local price in three (that’s the exchange rate for Dollars and 3.5 for Euros), there are countless free of charge outstanding activities, most of which is consumed by locals who seek to maintain their social culture in times where the city is becoming a bit expensive for young middle class locals. So those cool hunters from around the planet coming to BA might want to enjoy both the underground and established cultural and art scene.

Theatre, movies, live music, great inexpensive food, all of it can be found in BA if keeping a sharp eye and an open mind.

For example, this past weekend the famous Russian movie Battleship Potemkin (1925) directed by Sergei Eisenstein was played with a live philharmonic orchestra at the Colon Opera House in Buenos Aires, the finest opera house in Latin America. Tickets ranged from USD $10 to a low USD $0.60 for a place standing up but with a fabulous view.

A magnificent Peruvian gourmet dinner in downtown BA can go with drinks, wine, etc, for as low as USD $ 5.- And latter on at night live rock music in an Abasto neighborhood pub is for free and drinks are truly inexpensive.

This is just an example, but quite illustrating of what BA offers to its locals…
Women should also be alert, for not only top notch brands sell fabulous clothes… Independent designers of great talent and wonderful quality can be found throughout the city and putting on a brilliant true Argentine fashion outfit can go for less than USD 50 from shoes to trousers/skirts, t shirt and coat in both new and vintage clothing shops…

Experience Buenos Aires the way you want, from a low daily budget of maybe a hand full of dollars all the way up to a posh and chic to vintage and avant-garde, there are options for everyone in the city that truly never sleeps.

And tourist attractions like the .......

Route 40 South & North of Argentina

Ruta40.Net
Topic: Route 40 Tour
Our passion for Route 40 in Argentina is well known for our readers and net surfers. We began to work upon this project several years ago, and thought we were the only ones who were taking seriously the matter, the fact that the route is not only a natural and historical treasure but also a cultural one.
Along the road, both driving thru it and writing about it, we’ve met a lot of other route passionate riders ... One of them is Martin Jacovella. A young bright man who sharing this deep passion for the route has begun to work on a broad project to recuperate the route, its history and arts. Ruta40.net

Yesterday we met him at his mother's art gallery, Dharma Fine Arts, en el Paseo Arroyo (Arroyo y Suipacha), and talked for a while, working on ideas, projects and possible works together. It was a great meeting for, for once we had the chance of chatting with someone who shares our passion, but at the same time, we were very glad to find that more people is taking upon the challenge of the Highway Route 40!

Falling in love with Argentina

Falling in love with Argentina
Topic: Argentina

Loving Buenos Aires and learning to work the love

In these days of cheap peso, glowing Argentine culture and hundreds of social and cultural options is hard not to LOVE the city of good airs. The sophistication and beauty of this South American capital has become even more appealing to Americans in recent years because they conceive it as a new found paradise long term second home. Attracted by a number of different features, hundreds of middle class and upper class Americans find in Buenos Aires a perfect place to enjoy safely and broadly the life experiences of their dreams.

Unlike Europe, which has become sort of impossible to visit unless you’re a truly rich person; Buenos Aires, and Argentina in general, have become a brilliant alternative to great cultural and social trips.

If once upon a time, Paris was the land of lovers and Rome that of seduction, nowadays that is Buenos Aires. The sexy sensual Argentine dance of Tango is an everlasting magnet that has mutated from a short escape to a need, hence a long term relocating option. Knight Ridder Washington newspaper has broadly developed this matter throughout its pages lately.

Other major American papers such as The Times have also began to inquire about this new and interesting global world phenomena that is so appealing to average culture lovers Americans.

Since the crack down in 2001/2, Buenos Aires has resurged from the ashes as the Phoenix becoming a major world pole in terms of culture and investments. And it’s not only about the money bringing more money, for the city of Tango’s unique flavor in terms of Latin and European perfect blend shaped in the best Argentine feel interests in far more deeper ways than profitable investments. Buenos Aires has become the symbol of a self investment in enjoying life’s pleasures. Its fine dinning, gorgeous people, posh culture and moneymaking investments all converge into pointing Buenos Aires as a dream goal. It’s easy to access, and enjoyable to the most. Whether you have a million dollars and come to Buenos Aires to live like a magnate without worrying about work or problems; or you’re just on a good budget and turn to the southern capital for a lifetime experience, this is a city where you’ll find all what you’re looking for and much more than you’ve expected.

A true sense of “Argentine” has developed as an outcome of the last breakdown.

Sensed both by locals and visitors –even more those who from visitors become newcomers, and soon turn to be a typical local Porteno as we refer to those who were born and raised in this portside city.

When importations became too expensive, and the global culture turn to be hard to approach in a complicated financial situation, locals turned to their roots and brought them to the third millennium. Fashion, arts, crafts, culture in general was re-born in a fascinating way. From eating traditions, products and cooking skills to fine artists and painters, the cultural world of Argentina developed at a fantastic rate chipping into the world’s culture basket with its own flavor and at a Tango rhythm.
